At 19 inches ( 47 cm.) long the Swingarm  does allow unfettered access by pedestrians wishing to enter or exit a patient room.  This since some people are sensitive to sanitizers, and when staff  simply deliver meal trays without touching anything inside the rooms.

Measurements have shown that generally, patient-room doorway openings range from 45 inches to 56 inches ( 114 to 142 cm.) which means that at least 26 inches (66 cm) of space is available for pedestrians to pass unfettered beside the Swingarm.
Pedestrians can generally fit between the Swingarm and opposite door-frame without touching the Swingarm if they wish.
Important to note the Swingarm greets pedestrians the same whether they are entering or leaving.
